Coolmine community training and employment scheme

Finding a job after drug or alcohol rehabilitation treatment can be difficult, frustrating and de-motivating. We know from our clients’ feedback that finding a job is one of the hardest parts of their recovery. That is why Coolmine have created their own career guidance service and community employment scheme to support our clients.18Career Guidance

While some of our clients were working right up to taking a place on a programme others may have little or no work experience. For this reason, we have developed a Career Guidance Service to help clients to secure a rewarding job and/or to access a range of training and further education programmes. Clients can access this service and consult with a dedicated Career Guidance Worker when they are in the Integration and Aftercare phases of our programme.

In addition, at Coolmine TC we have our own Community Employment Scheme (CES), which is run in conjunction with FÁS. The CES gives clients opportunities to avail of work experience placements in Coolmine projects in a variety of roles, including reception, administration, graduate support, and client participation co-ordination. Our CES provides structure and support through matching the person to the placement, offering guided care planning and regular supervision, and identifying and providing further vocational training.

At the end of their placement, clients are in a much stronger position to apply for jobs within their chosen career path. They can demonstrate that they have developed a wide range of personal skills and that they have gained excellent hands-on experience. They have also grown in confidence, dealing with the challenges and pressures of a supervised work environment whilst remaining drug/alcohol free.
