Is Coolmine Therapeutic Community (TC) an accredited Adult Education Centre?

Yes – this means we are open to accepting internship opportunities for students from select colleges eligible for Erasmus funding across Europe.

In addition to being an ALC we are Ireland’s leading addiction treatment centre with a national presence.

Please note we will have limited placements to offer however we will do our best to accommodate as many internships as possible.

Who are Coolmine TC’s partner agencies?

In order to be eligible for an internship you must be an application who applied from one of the following partner agencies:

  • Magdalena (Czech Republic)
  • CEIS (Italy)
  • Trempoline (Belgium)
  • Caritas (Malta)
  • Kethea (Greece)
  • Proyecto Uomo (Portugal)

What type of qualifications are accepted by Coolmine TC as suitable for an internship?

We are open to reviewing applications from people seeking a role that aligns to the ethos and values of Coolmine. Once our minimum qualification requirements are met, we will consider applicants who have studied a range of disciplines (Social Care, Business Management, IT).

How many hours must be completed as part of the internship arrangement?

There must be a commitment of a minimum of 12 weeks.

What steps are involved in the application process?

  1. Confirm if you are applying from a partner agency (see above)
  2. If not confirm you are studying in a relevant field
  3. Confirm that you are studying in a field that will be suitable for Coolmine
  4. Seek a written reference from your college supporting your application and identify your Erasmus coordinator
  5. Email the following to: erasmus@coolminetc.ie
    • Copy of your current CV
    • Reference letter from your college
    • Cover letter (in the body of the email is fine) that includes your preferred travel dates
  6. A response confirming acceptance of your application will be sent within 5 days.
  7. If successful you will be contacted to arrange an online interview with a panel of managers.
  8. A decision will be confirmed within 4 weeks of receiving your application.

How will the logistics of my travel be arranged?

Your Erasmus coordinator will make all the necessary travel arrangements.

You will be responsible for arranging your own accommodation – however we will provide you with as much information as we can to make your search as smooth as possible.

Will I be paid a wage when working at Coolmine TC for my internship?

No – this is an unpaid arrangement. You may receive an income through your Erasmus coordinator’s funding programme however you will need to confirm that with your college.

What other documents will I need?

You must provide a current International Police Clearance as part of your pre-entry requirements for the internship.
